The Frontier Fellowship

Four weeks of training. Four weeks of real work. A career in frontier tech.

The Frontier Fellowship is not a classroom course. It is a structured, employer-validated programme that takes you from zero tech experience to a paid role as an AI Deployment Consultant in 12 weeks. Every learner who completes the Fellowship walks away with a portfolio of real AI workflows, a four-week live project on their CV, and direct connections to employers actively hiring.

PHASE 1

Weeks 1-4

Training

Learn to use AI tools that businesses are actually using right now, Claude, Copilot & ChatGPT. Build workflows. Map business processes. Understand how to walk into an organisation, identify where AI can help, and design a solution. Every session is practical. Nothing is theoretical.

PHASE 2

Weeks 5-8

Live SME Placement

Join a team of four or five Fellows and deliver a real AI project for a real UK business. Not a simulation. Not a case study. A defined scope, a named client, weekly milestones, and a signed deliverable at the end. This is the work that gets you hired.

PHASE 3

Weeks 9-12

Career Support

Interview coaching, CV preparation, confidence-building, and direct introductions to employers. Insight Days inside blue chip anchor employers. Six months of continued support through the Frontier Fellowship alumni network after you graduate.

 Applications open August 2026

Is the Frontier Fellowship for you?

We are not looking for experience.
We are looking
for potential.

The Fellowship is designed for women who have been locked out of tech. Not because they lack ability, but because existing routes were not built for them. If you are unemployed, have recently been made redundant, returning from a career break, or stuck in work that is not going anywhere, this programme was built for you.

Not in full-time education

You do not need:

A degree

A background in technology

Any prior experience with AI tools

Selection process

We are selective because your cohort matters. You will be working in a team on a live project with a real business depending on you. We need to know you can do that. The process has three steps and takes around two weeks from application to decision.

Apply

A short online form. Tell us who you are, why you want this, and one thing about yourself that would not be obvious from your application. No CV required.

10min Assessment

Eight quick scenarios sent to you automatically after you apply.
No revision needed. We want to understand how you think. Not what
you already know. It takes around ten minutes to complete.

Case Study

Complete a 45-minute case study with one of our team. We will send you a short briefing document 90 minutes before. No presentation to prepare. No technical knowledge required. We're interested in how you think, not a polished answer.

Host a Frontier deployment team

Get four weeks of AI deployment work done. At no cost to you.

As a Frontier placement host, your business receives a team of four to five trained AI Deployment Consultants for a four-week project. They arrive with a defined scope, work to weekly milestones, and hand over a working AI workflow your team can operate independently. The same depth of work would cost between £25,000 and £85,000 on the open consultancy market. During the placement, it costs you nothing.

The matching event

At the end of the training phase, SMEs pitch their projects live to the cohort. Fellows rank their preferences. We match teams to projects based on fit, not luck.

Four weeks of delivery

Your team arrives with a scope document, a named project lead on your side, and weekly milestones. You sign off the final deliverable at week four.

After the placement

If you would like to bring one or more team members on permanently, we can facilitate that directly. Or if you want continued AI deployment support without adding to your headcount, we can contract Fellows to you on a project basis. We will talk through the options with you at the end of placement.

What we need from you:

A named project lead available for at least four hours per week

Access to the systems and data relevant to the project

A working environment whether on-site, remote, or hybrid

The UK’s AI talent gap is not going to close itself. Be part of closing it.

The Frontier Fellowship is a government-backed, Innovate UK-funded programme. The infrastructure is built. The cohorts are filling. We are inviting businesses to join as anchor employers.

Corporate partners play a vital role in supporting the government's drive to upskill people in AI and cyber security. Engage your employees and strengthen your talent pipeline through getting in front of the next generation of AI deployment talent before anyone else does.

Innovate UK programmes are designed as public-private partnerships. Government funding builds the infrastructure. Industry co-investment signals that the programme is built around real sector need, not just policy ambition.

Two organisations. One mission. Built to deliver this together.

The Frontier Fellowship is delivered by Girls Talk Corporation and Enterprise4all, funded by Innovate UK under the UK Government's Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. Neither organisation could deliver this programme alone. Together, they cover every part of what makes it work.

What is Frontier Fellowship?

It’s a free, 12-week programme designed to help you build practical AI skills, work on a real project for a UK business and take your next step towards a career using AI.

You’ll learn tools including ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot, put those skills into practice with a business, and get hands-on career support and introductions to employers. The programme is funded by Innovate UK and delivered by Girls Talk Corporation and Enterprise4all.

What is an AI Deployment Consultant?

An AI Deployment Consultant helps businesses work out where AI can genuinely save time, improve the way they work or solve everyday problems — and then helps put those solutions into practice.

That could mean improving a sales process, automating reporting, helping a team organise knowledge, or creating a better way to research and produce content.

You do not need to know how to do this already. Learning these practical skills is exactly what the Fellowship is for.

Who is the Fellowship for?

The Fellowship is for people aged 18 or over in London or the North West of England who have the potential and ambition to build a stronger career, but may not yet have had the right route in.

You might be unemployed, returning to work after time away, working fewer hours than you want, or in a job that does not give you the progression you are looking for. You might simply be excited by AI and want practical skills that businesses increasingly need.

We are interested in potential, curiosity and ambition — not whether you already look like a “tech person”.

Can I apply if I’m not a woman?

Yes. The majority of places are intended for women, but the programme is open to applicants of all genders.
